Bangalore, Feb 2: The Karnataka Media Academy (KMA) has selected 29 journalists for its silver jubilee award. This announcement was made by the Academy chairman V N Subba Rao at a press meet held here on Friday February 1.Governor Rameshwar Thakur will be presenting the awards at a function in Bangalore City on March 1. The award carries a citation and Rs 10,000 in cash.
In all, the academy has selected 29 senior journalists, including a cartoonist, two photographers and a media critic, for its annual awards in recognition of their contribution to the field of journalism. Girish Nikam, a freelance journalist based in Delhi, received a Special Award from the Academy. The awardees are:

According to Subba Rao earlier the Academy used to select around 10 to 12 journalists for the awards, however from this year onwards, they decided to give representation to all districts. "Hence the number has risen to 29,” he added.
Academy members Dr Gangadharappa, B Venkat Singh, K S Naganna, K R Manjunath, Rajendra, Chandrashekhar Belagere, and Academy secretary H B Dinesh were also present at the conference.
