Mangaluru: Kadri temple road - first to get best amenities

Mangaluru, Jan 11: The Kadri temple road that stretches from Kadri Dwara to the temple will be the first road in the city to have a water pipeline adjacent to the road and new underground drainage (UGD) as well as underground electric cables," informed Ashok DK, corporator of Kadri ward.

Addressing media persons in the city he said, "Concretization of major roads of Kadri ward is in progress and the 850 meter stretch from the Temple entrance towards the temple has been complete at an expenditure of rupees three crore eighty lac. For the first time in the city this road along with four other roads has a water pipeline adjacent to the road laid at a cost of Rs 80 lac. A new underground drainage having one foot circumference pipes connected to the RCC manholes has been already laid on the same road at a cost of Rs 61 lac with the connecting road being concretized at a cost of Rs 51.50 lac.

The temple road will have underground electric cables which will be the first of its kind in the city. They will be laid at an expense of Rs two crore and has already received permission from the Karnataka Electricity Transmission commission. This work along with shoulder footpath of all concreted roads will be undertaken soon after the Kadri temple festival (Jatra).

"The inauguration of the concreted roads will be held on January 14 and the minister in-charge of Dakshina Kannda, B Ramanath Rai will inaugurate it in the presence of MP and former union minister Veerappa Moily. The mayor of city corporation, Harinath, chief whip of legislative council, Ivan D'Souza, MLA JR Lobo along with seer of Kadri Math, Nirmalnath Swamiji and other dignitaries will be present," he explained.

Chief whip of city corporation, Shashidhar Hegde, representative of Jogi community Kiran Jogi, PRO of congress city committee Nazeer Bajal, Mangaluru south block congress president Vishwas Das and others were present at the occasion.
