Kasargod: Youth jumps over school compound, tries to rape student

Kasargod, Jan 12: In an incident reported from Badiadka on Wednesday January 11, a youth who jumped over the school compound tried to forcibly confine a girl student in a toilet and rape her there. The teachers and citizens who rushed to the spot on hearing the shouts of the girl student, broke open the toilet door and rescued her They also chased the culprit who tried to flee, and assaulted him before handing him over to the police.

Relating to the incident, a case of rape attempt was registered against Siddique (32) at Badiadka police station. He works in the Gulf and had come home on holiday four days back. The victim happens to be a plus two student of a private educational institution at Badiadka.

The girl used to reach the said school, where her father works as a teacher, after her classes everyday, and then go home on her father's two-wheeler. On Wednesday, when the girl reached her father's school, all the students had left, and her father had asked her to wait on the verandah as he had to attend a staff meeting. The accused, noticing that the girl was sitting alone in the school, jumped over the compound, held her mouth tight and dragged her into the toilet. He bolted the door from inside and tried to rape her. When the girl raised an alarm, people passing by the road heard her, came inside the school and alerted the teachers. With the help of the general public, the door of the toilet was broken open and the girl was rescued, while the offender was handed over to the police.
