Mangaluru, Jan 14: In conversation with actor, scriptwriter of upcoming Tulu Movie 'Yesa', Shobharaj Pavoor.
What audience are you looking forward to having in 'Yesa'?
Shobharaj: This movie particularly focuses on DK and Udupi audience. It's a comedy show with intricate cinematic elements that resounds with all age brackets - from elders through youth. This complete comedy riot for the two and a half hour duration is a worthwhile watch. The songs have been an instant hit among the listeners.
As a script-writer what were the challenges in bringing the script to life?
Shobharaj: Tulu cinema , with a number of excellent movies being produced in the recent past, is a challenging area for a scriptwriter. This script specifically has been so well fit with the characters that there has been no scope for a 'dummy character'. Every character does indeed have a role to play, and we have perfect artists for the characters.
What will be a takeaway for the audience when they leave the cinema hall?
Shobharaj: The audience look forward to a relaxed time for the 150 minutes of the movie, we deliver it. This is a combination of comedy and values, where every character relates to someone in the family, back home. The movie portrays the various elements of a joint family and demonstrates bonding that resonates with families in our society.
What are a few novelties one can look forward to in the movie?
Shobharaj: It is a different pattern altogether for the Tulu cinema industry, with its wide flavour of cinema and a local touch of the language. This movie transcends beyond the boundaries of the typical movie and is shot in multiple locations. The film is set in Della Adventures in Lonavala, Bidar Fort, and locations in Mumbai, amongst others. The hero of the movie performs a 150-feet dive stunt, which is a complete breath taker. We have used all the safety equipment for the stunt.
Which of the character has the best costume?
Shobharaj: Arvind Bolar has an interesting costume. If you notice well enough, you will see his general attire of pyjamas and tee-shirt have more to do with just being a form of clothing. The print on the tee-shirt is contrary to the performance in the scene he plays. It's a situational joke.
Tell us a little about the comedy kings in the movie
Shobharaj: Arvind Bolar is loved by Tulu - cinema lovers, for his perfect comedy timings. Naveen D Padil , the comedy king has a wide range of expressions, here he plays a very challenging and serious role with an unparallel style of humour, with his deadpan jokes or 'serious comedy'.
Which actor is least like the character he plays
Shobharaj: Suni Nelligudde plays a serious character, an asthma patient, with grave expression more than words, which is not just challenging but also a beautiful piece of performance by the actor.
When could we look forward to watching this movie in the cinema?
Shobharaj: The movie will hit theatres in about two months approximately. The official trailer will be released in the next couple of weeks. The songs have already been out and delivered success. We have had 70k viewers for the songs within two days of them being uploaded.
Tell us a bit about yourself
Shobharaj: I have been a theatre artist for nine years and was a part of Tulu Rangabhoomi back then. I continue to act in several serials that are aired even now. This film has been my second venture in the cinematic industry, and it has been a pleasure working with the Yesa team, also, I will be getting married within the next two weeks, so it's a been a busy time.
