Mumbai, Jan 14: Vamanjooru Lingumaru Shivanna Shetty, his son Rajkumar and relatives held a grand programme to felicitate 106 senior members in six troupes of Kateel Durga Parameshwari Yakshagana mela.
A grand programme as honoring the Yakshagana artistes is rare.
The artistes were presented memento and cash. The wife of Yakshagana artiste, late Manjeshwara Janardhan Jogi was felicitated on his behalf.
Shivanna has been holding Bayalata of Kateel in Vamanjoor Padavu for the last fifty years. This year being the golden jubilee of his Harake aata, he decided to felicitate the Yakshagana artistes.
Besides these 106 artistes, those who cooperated in the performances were also felicitated on the occasion. It was a milestone in Yakshagana art.
