Udupi, Feb 8: Former minister Dr V S Acharya has threatened that BJP will stage a protest if the list of names of the beneficiaries of Sandhya Suraksha scheme is not shortlisted before Friday February 15.

Speaking to press persons he said that there will be a district-wide protest in front of taluk offices if appropriate action is not taken in the matter by the authorities.

Elaborating on the scheme, he said that the previous coalition government had sanctioned a sum of Rs 250 crore under the scheme for people above 65 years of age whose annual income was less than Rs 20,000. He also alleged that there has been no development in the state under the President's rule.

Expressing concern over the terror threat to Krishna Temple, he said that Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has been assigned the task of beefing up the security at the Temple premises.

Among those present were former MLA Raghupati Bhat and BJP leaders.
