UP: 30, including 15 schoolchildren, die in accident in Etah

Etah, Jan 19 (Agencies): Over 30 people, including 15 schoolchildren were killed and more than 50 injured when a bus collided on Thursday with a truck in Etah district's Aliganj in Uttar Pradesh.

According to initial reports, the children are from JS Public School in Etah.

The school had remained open even after the Etah administration announced three days of holidays due to cold.

"The school was open against the order of district admin to close schools due to cold. More than two dozen children have died. Priority is to rescue trapped children. Rescue operation is underway. Strict action will be taken against the school," UP DGP Javeed Ahmad said.

    My heart aches so much for these little lives taken, and their mourning families, as well as the surviving children. They will likely not get over this trauma for a long time. May their souls rest in peace.
