Selling pressure pulls equities lower


Mumbai, Jan 20 (IANS): Indian equities markets trade on a negative note during the early morning trade session on Friday, as heavy selling pressure was witnessed in banking and IT stocks.

The wider 51-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) fell by 23.25 points or 0.28 per cent, to 8,411.85 points.

The barometer 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the BSE, which opened at 27,232.69 points, traded at 27,226.05 points (10.10 a.m.) -- down 82.55 points or 0.30 per cent from the previous close at 27,308.60 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 27,264.41 points and a low of 27,195.09 points during the intra-day trade so far.
