Danish SuperLiga side terminates Ugandan player's contract

Kampala, Jan 20 (IANS): Uganda Cranes striker Emmanuel Okwi has had his five year contract terminated by Danish SuperLiga side Sonderjyske Football Club.

According to a statement on the official club website, the club's sports manager Hans Jorgen Haysen said Okwi has not received much playing time and the prospect of more playing time has not improved, reports Xinhua news agency.

"We have therefore by mutual agreement agreed to separate our ways," he added.

Okwi, who was part of the Uganda's national football team that qualified for the on-going 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) in Gabon, only scored two goals for the club since joining two years ago.

He is now reportedly targeting a return to play on the African continent.

Okwi previously featured for SC Villa in Uganda, Simba and Young Africans in Tanzania before moving to join Etoil Du Sahel in Tunisia.
