16 models to debut on AIFW Autumn-Winter 2017 ramp

New Delhi, Jan 20 (IANS): The 29th edition of the Amazon India Fashion Week (AIFW) will introduce 16 fresh faces on the ramp for the Autumn-Winter edition.

The event will be held from March 15-18 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here.

"It was heartening to see an overwhelming turnout of participants and the immense capabilities they displayed. I would like to thank the distinguished FDCI jury for enabling these greenhorns to embark on a testing journey to success," Sunil Sethi, President, Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), said in a statement, after the model auditions were held on Thursday.

FDCI -- India's apex fashion body -- conducted a campaign titled #GETNOTICED to audition new and aspiring models.

The jury comprised veteran designers JJ Valaya, Rina Dhaka, Varun Bahl, Gautam Rakha and fashion choreographers Asha Kochhar, Vidyun Singh and Saumya Rathore. Amazon shortlisted these 16 models from a nationwide search of close to 200 aspiring models.

"The #GETNOTICED campaign is our way to add newness by incorporating fresh faces into the existing pool of models, in turn, making new stars of tomorrow," Sethi added.

This season, Huawei ran a social media contest 'Hunt for the Face of Honour', in collaboration with the FDCI and shortlisted 26 young aspirants to be a part of the model auditions.

Six of the final shortlisted contestants were chosen to walk the ramp for the 'Honour Show' as part of AIFW.
