Mangaluru, Jan 20: Coastalwood is soon going to have its own Akshay Kumar. ‘Amber Caterers’, a new Tulu film from Nageshwara Cini Combines banner will have Saurabh Bhandary playing the male lead. Saurabh is a black belt holder in Karate and has secured medals in several competitions in India and abroad.

Saurabh, who started learning Karate when he was in Class 4 has participated in national and international levels and won medals. He is playing the role of lovely boy in 'Amber Caterers'. Sindhu Lokanath is playing the lead heroine of the film. Besides writing the story and dialogues, Jaiprakash has directed the film.

Saurabh is an MBA and is interested mostly in creative work. He wanted to achieve something new and got attracted towards films. His father, Mumbai entrepreneur Kadandale Suresh Bhandary who is the managing trustee of Kacchuru Nageshwara temple stood as a backbone to help his son achieve his dream and took the responsibility of the production. The film has completed shooting and is in its post-production stage.

Speaking to Daijiworld, Saurabh says that he had trained hard to become an actor. “I have worked hard to prepare for my debut. I would say that I am still in the learning process,” he says.

Coastalwood will have a real action star to boast about in Saurabh. He has trained under Vasant T Shetty who has competed in Singapore, Australia, Dubai, Hong Kong, Malaysia and other foreign countries and has won more than 19 championships and has also been ranked number one in Karate in India. Saurab has been practicing Karate since 16 years and has represented India in Australia, Dubai, Malaysia and other countries. He has bagged 14 Gold medals, 25 Silver medals and 28 Bronze medals in Karate.

Saurabh has now stopped participating in tournaments, but is training students in Karate. “Karate is a beautiful sport. According to me, even women should learn Karate. It really helps in self-defence. It is one of the basic needs for a woman in today's world,” he says.

Speaking about the film, Saurabh said that ‘Amber Caterers’ is a very special movie as there are some actors in it who have never acted in a Tulu movie. “My experience during the 36-day shoot schedule was very good. We all stayed together like a family. Amazing artists like Sharath Lohithaswa, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan and Bank Janardhan will be seen in a Tulu film for the first time. We have our own Navin D Padil and Bhojraj Vamanjoor in the film,” he says.

“The movie is a complete entertainer. It is a comedy with love story. ‘Amber Caterers’ is the result of the hard work of the entire unit. I would like to thank everyone from the spot boy to the director for the film which has come out so good. All credit goes to my father who has given his heart and soul to this venture,” he adds.

Saurabh Bhandary says that he wants to continue acting if he gets good opportunities. He added that indulging in filmdom is challenging. “It all depends on the response the audience will give us. ‘Amber Caterers’ has come out well and I am confident that it will please everyone,” he says as he signs off.
