Mangaluru: Adding fun to learning - St Theresa's School sets up innovative 'Math Park'

Mangaluru, Jan 21: In a first-of-its-kind initiative by an educational institution in the city, St Theresa's School has set up an innovative 'Math Park', as part of its creative and artistic endeavours to formulate new methods to teach mathematics to all levels.

The 'Math Park' was inaugurated on Saturday, January 21 by Harinath, mayor of Mangaluru and blessed by Fr Anthony Serrao, parish priest of Bendore church.

The park provides opportunities for students to become more mathematically aware, capable and confident. The main objective of the park is to introduce mathematics in a creative and innovative way, and create an easy-to-learn concept, to help students facing difficulties with mathematics as a subject.

The park includes models of math classification, Pythogorus theorem, factor-tree, x-y axiz working model, manual clock, abacus and square, penatagonal, hexagonal pyramids, among others.

Dignitaries present at the occassion included Sr Lillis, asst superior of Bethany Educational Society, Sr Mariette, secretary of BES, Dr Devi Prabha , lecturer at St Agnes College, corporators Sabitha Pimenta and Naveen D'Souza, Sr Premitha, Sr Mercine, Sr Leena and Sujeeth.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Sr Premitha. The programme was compered by Sangeetha Vaz.
