Mangalore, Feb 10: Austin D’Souza Prabhu’s book of short poems `Motiyam’ (chutukam) was jointly released on February 10, at the Pastoral Institute, Bajjodi, Mangalore by Lancy D’Cunha, the president of Catholic Sabha central committee and Fr. Vincent Monteiro, director of Pastoral Institute. Victor Rodrigues, Konkani novelist was present as guest of honor.
Dr Gerald Pinto introduced the author and the book to the audience. He recalled the contribution of Austin D Souza Prabhu as the founder vice president of catholic sabha and his role in organizing the mammoth rally in Mangalore to protest against the Tyagi bill. The book of poems `Motiyam’ is very unique and it gives entertainment, knowledge and awareness and also it can be used as quotations in the speeches, he said.
Nigel Pereira, secretary of Catholic Sabha proposed vote of thanks. Members of Catholic Sabha central committee from all over Mangalore Diocese were present.
The book contains more than 800 short poems and it is published by Dr Jerry Niddodi through his publication Divya Deepa and all the sale proceedings will go to the Manasa Rehabilitation and Training centre, Pamboor for mentally Challenged and Hearing impaired children.
