Haveri, Jan 30: A man, who was overcome with consternation by the fact that his daughter-in-law had eloped with another man from the same village, committed suicide. The incident happened at Mushtur village in Ranebennur taluk of the district on Sunday January 29.

The person who ended his life was Nagappa Hanumantappa Talwar (65). He hanged himself at his home. It is gathered that his daughter-in-law had run away with another youth a few days back. Nagappa had succeeded in finding her whereabouts and convinced her with his sane advice, to return home honourably. She had returned home then.

However, it was found on Sunday that she had escaped from home again. Nagappa, who felt humiliated and insulted by her action, committed suicide. The town police, who registered the case, confirmed that the man was overtaken by the emotions of shame and insult at the said development.

Why no mention about his son/her husband? If a FIL to commit suicide, what should her husband's reaction be? Unless the other side of the story is heard, its wrong to blame the woman alone. Moreover, the man she eloped with too is 50-50 responsible for the mess.
