Mangaluru: Tulu Sahitya Academy announces annual awards

Mangaluru, Jan 30: The Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy on Monday January 30 announced its annual awards for the year 2016.

The awards will be presented in two categories, Honorary Awards and Book Awards, informed president of Tulu Sahitya Acadamy Janaki Bhramavar in a press meet here.

The Honorary Awards will be conferred on Muddu Moodubelle (Tulu literature) Anand Shetty (Tulu drama) and Thamma Lakshmana (Tulu movie).

The Book Award will be conferred on Palthadi Ramakrishna Achar (research on 'Paadanagalali Moodi Banda Veera Vanitheyaru') Yogesh Roa Chigurupaade for his poetry 'Oeil' and Shashi Raj Kavoor for his drama 'Barbarika'.

"The Honorary Award comprises cash prize of Rs 50,000, a shawl and citation while the Book Award carries a cash prize of Rs 25,000 and a citation.

"The award function is slated to be held in the third week of February either in Mangaluru or Puttur. The date is yet to be finalised," Janaki Brahmavar said.

Registrar of Tulu Sahitya Academy Chandrahas Rai B, members of the Acadamy Mohan Koppala, K T Vishwanath, D M Kulal and others were present.
