Bengaluru: BJP woos Krishna - Yeddyurappa to talk to former CM soon

Bengaluru, Jan 31 (DHNS): The state BJP on Monday invited former chief minister S M Krishna to join the party.

BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa told reporters in Bengaluru that he will soon meet Krishna and hold talks with him.

“I was eager to visit him today. But I learnt that he has left for Maddur. I am leaving for New Delhi today and will meet him after I come back,” Yeddyurappa said.

Sources said Yeddyurappa will discuss the issue with the party’s central leadership in the national capital in the coming days. “Krishna’s entry into the BJP will strengthen the party,” Yeddyurappa said.

BJP state general secretary Shobha Karandlaje said, “We have extended an invitation to him (Krishna) to join the BJP. The party will benefit from his experience. He launched several popular programmes as chief minister of the state.”

Another state general secretary of the BJP, C T Ravi, said Krishna quitting the Congress is an indication that political polarisation in the state has commenced.

While Krishna was in Maddur till evening, Yeddyurappa left for Delhi.

Sources close to Krishna spiked rumours that Krishna had met BJP national president Amit Shah before moving out of the Congress.

It is a closed chapter - Krishna

Meanwhile, S M Krishna has said that his resignation from the Congress is now a 'closed chapter'.

Speaking to reporters at Somanahalli in Maddur taluk on Monday, Krishna said that Congress president Sonia Gandhi and senior leader Ahmed Patel had called him over phone following his resignation.

“But, it is a closed chapter. I don’t want to react about it,” he said. He said that he had already spoken about the people who hurt him and did not want to repeat the names.

“I will speak to my supporters before deciding my next step,” Krishna added.

Yeddy cannot even take care of his own khaki gang now trying fishing in the troubled waters.Krishna is of no use for any gang. The Yeddy khaki gang talks many things and at the end gets zeroed on caste politics and on Hindutva. The secular minded people will always vote either congress or JDS or might avoid voting but do not vote Khaki.

Please ask these veteran (above the age of 60) leaders to retire from politics gracefully and pave way to the new generation leaders by supporting them, sharing experience and guiding them. These leaders (especially maha gyani Poojary, Krishna etc.) already enjoyed the power and benefits the Congress provided during its helm, these leaders became someone from no one because of Congress Party. Learn from Mr. Advani, even though the party sidelined him but he never uttered a single word against BJP leadership and kept silent. SM Krishna is greedy and over ambitious politician to resign in this age. He still need power. I had respect for him but seeing his current political statement am ashamed of him. He is the one enjoyed more and more power and facilities in Congress (being CM, Foreign minister, Governor etc.) still he want power in this age oufffff shame on him.

I have great respect to Krishna, he is highly educated, posh personality. He is the first person to develop Bangalore in IT/BT during his tenure as CM. As he is already 84 and hardly left few years of life, my suggestion for him not to join any party. If he does, he will spoil his popularity in no time....

S.M. Krishna has been successful in life. Now that he is 84 years old, he should gracefully leave politics and dedicate himself to the service of mankind by doing some social work as long as he could and not to meddle in politics - dirty politics.

A politician at 84 does not want to retire but still looks for importance. Rather than retiring gracefully and making place for the young generation these politicians no matter in which party want to hang around and only spoil the situation. What good it would do to him personally and to BJP at this age. Ofcourse you can't expect a politician tobe ethically and morally tobe right.

BJP need all the rejected leaders from opposition parties because they have no proper leaders across the country. Mr. S.M. Krishna enjoyed with the top positions like state Chief minister, Foreign minister at the Central etc. Still he is power greedy in the age of 84 is unfortunate. What position he is going to get from the BJP if he joins??? Modi-Amit Shah dominated the party and other leaders have no value in the BJP. They even sidelined the leaders who built the party like L.K.Advani, M.M. Joshi etc. Any way good luck Krishnaji.....

Krishna's leaving Congress is really a bad decision because he had been given all the top posts in the state and the center when he was in Congress. His decision is unfortunate and any party he may join, will not have the same high respect he enjoyed in Congress party.
