Kundapur: Youth from Mavinakatte drowns in river during swimming

Kundapur, Feb 2: A teenager identified as Parvez (19), who was a native of Mavinakatte in Gulvady in the taluk, accidentally drowned in river on Wednesday February 1.

Parvez had been to Sagar to attend a marriage function there. From there, he reached Golihole with family members for a reception held there on Tuesday. On Wednesday, he was on an excursion in the company of other members of his family near Idoor. Along with some other boys in the group, Pravez had approached the river near Idoor dam for swimming.


Several young boys had together approached the river near the dam for swimming. Pravez, it is said, who went into the water next to the dam, could not properly gauge the depth of the water, and accidentally drowned before others could come to his rescue. Parvez, it is learnt, was working in a service station at Mavinakatte.

The body of Parvez was later retrived and brought to the taluk government hospital here for postmortem. A case of unnatural death stands filed in Kollur police station.
