Mangaluru Feb 2: Former vice chancellor of Kannada University, Hampi, Professor Vivek Rai inaugurated Anveshane - 2017, the expression of inner space organised by Mahalasa School of Art at Gallerie Orchid, here on Thursday February 2.

Speaking on the occasion Vivek Rai said, "Mangaluru has accepted modernization but there is an absence of art. Students should have an attitude to convert the city into a city of art. The government and local bodies have not made any efforts for building an art gallery which they ought to and hope this city will be termed a 'City of Art' in the coming days."

Director of Gallerie Orchid, William Pais said, "An artist has to monetize and remonetize art. There should be a good platform for artwork. The artist must give this art a positive vibration. There must also be buyers for this art so that the artist can earn a living."

Director of Sri Mahalasa Shikshana Samithi, Babu Rao said, "We must all work together towards the betterment of art and promote it in all ways possible."

Principal of Mahalasa School of Art, K Purushotham Nayak and head of the painting department, N S Pattar were present.
