Udupi, Feb 3: Social worker and eminent physician Prakash Baba Amte addressed the students of Yakshagana Kendra learning centre near Indrali on Thursday February 2. After the introduction by Jayaram Patil to the students, Prakash said, "I live in the Dandakarnya forest. Social service was my father’s passion and that is why I live in the midst of the Adivasis (tribal community)."

Recalling his father Amte's hard work he said, "Amte was a hard worker. He was a model to all and had led a simple life till his death. Many things have changed since then due to education. Many soldiers have sacrificed their life for the nation.

Assuring them of his family's support, he said, "By God's grace my two sons are serving society and supporting this social cause. The third generation of Amte's family is continuing the social service. I have satisfaction in my job which I am doing now."

There are various transmitted, communicable, genetic, non curable diseases in society and there is need for awareness to be created among the public.

He first decided to share the sorrows and grievances of the tribes, his main objective being to bring them to the mainstream of society. Prakash and his wife's desire was to live among the tribals and they have achieved it too. Hence, his entire life blends with the tribal society.

In his message he enthused the Yakshagana Gurukula students to be hard workers and to put their efforts into achieving their ultimate goal.

Before the stage function, the Gurukula students enthralled the audience through a beautiful Yakshagana performance on 'an excerpt from Sitapahana story'.
