Mangaluru Feb 5: West Indian cricketer and one of the most destructive batsmen in cricketing world, Chris Gayle received warm welcome at Rathna's Wine Gate at Balmatta in city on Sunday February 5.

Chris Gayle was offered tender coconut by Ramesh Nayak, the owner of Wine Gate.  Chris Gayle, who happens to be the brand ambassador of Smirnoff, was in city to unveil the new product of Smirnoff.

Cricket enthusiast including youngsters and children thronged in to Wine Gate to see their favourite cricketer.

Speaking about Mangaluru, Chris Gayle said, "It is nice to be in Mangaluru. It is not Bengaluru, but its Mangaluru with just a letter difference and just loving it to be here".

Everyone gathered were over excited and expecting to take selfies and autographs from Chris Gayle. But due to the presence of large gathering, he could not interact much with fans. He was there only for 15 minutes.

Cricket enthusiasts were disappointed that they could not make their day memorable.

Gayle proceeded to Madhuvan Village restaurant in Yeyyadi where he would have lunch.

Compared to Indian cricketers earnings West Indian cricketers earn peanuts because of their small population which makes them look for greener pastures in India. I appreciate Ramesh Shetty giving him a tender coconut instead of a soft drink from MNC's. Tender coconut is a healthy natural drink and we should not only encourage people to have it but also discourage them from drinking unhealthy artificial drinks from MNC's whose profit goes to rich countries like USA.
