People's love won against tyranny: Kamal on 'Vishwaroopam'

Chennai, Feb 8 (IANS): Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan on Wednesday recalled how the love of people helped him fight against tyranny during the release of his controversial Tamil-Hindi bilingual spy thriller "Vishwaroopam".

Tuesday marked four years since the release of "Vishwaroopam", which Kamal directed.

The film, which released worldwide on January 25, 2013, was deferred by two weeks in Tamil Nadu following protests by Muslim outfits and an alleged involvement by the then state government.

"7th of February a few years back made me understand how people's love can make an artiste win against tyranny. Was humbled and stay that way," Haasan tweeted.

On the occasion of the film's fourth anniversary, hardcore fans of Kamal even requested that the second part in the franchise, which has been in the cans, to be released soon.

They made the hashtag 'We Want Vishwaroopam 2' trend on social media.

The film also starred Rahul Bose, Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah and Shekhar Kapur.
