'Centre framing policy for PIL by government servants'

Lucknow, Feb 14 (IANS): In response to an RTI, the Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT) on Tuesday revealed that the Government of India is framing a policy about Public Interest Litigations being filed by All India Service and other government servants.

In a PIL filed by senior IPS officer Amitabh Thakur, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court had directed the Central and the Uttar Pradesh governments on April 9, 2014, to formulate a policy on government servants filing PILs.

Thakur had sought information about the compliance of the High Court order.

To this, Rajesh Kumar Yadav, Under Secretary, DOPT, has said that it has initiated the process and asked the Home Ministry to provide a certified copy of the High Court order, so as to take further action.
