UAE: GMC Organizes Conference on Respiratory Diseases

Fujairah, Feb 25: GMC Hospital Fujairah in association with Red Crescent Society and ministry of health, UAE organized a conference on 'Updates in Management of Respiratory Diseases' on Saturday February 23 at Al Diar Siji Hotel in Fujaira. Over 200 doctors and healthcare professionals from all over UAE attended the conference.

Dr Salem Rashid Al Zahmi, director, ministry of health, Fujairah Medical District inaugurated the conference. He lauded the efforts of GMC Hospital for organizing such conferences. He later presented mementos to the speakers. Suhail Al Qadi, director, Red Crescent Society, Fujairah also attended the function and presented appreciation mementos to various companies who sponsored the event.

Dr Bassam Mahboub, Dr Mohd Taisser El Masri, Dr Saleh Brijawi, Dr Mohamed Rafique, Dr Edwin D’Souza, Dr Jairam Panicker, Pradnya Dhareshwar and Menatullah Wahby delivered talks at the conference.

The following topics were covered at the conference: 'Management of Asthma - Short review,' 'Management of Pediatric Respiratory Problems,' 'New Treatment Modalities for Asthma,' 'Physiotherapy Intervention in Asthma and COPD,' 'Anti Smoking – Importance of Public Education,' 'Diagnosis of COPD,' 'Management of COPD' and 'Update on Acute Bronchitis'

Delegates from ministry hospitals, private hospitals and clinics from all over the country participated in the conference. The conference secretariat, Gulf Medical College announced that they are planning to organize a joint conference with Cairo University in March and an international conference on nursing in May. GMC Hospital, Fujairah initially has 20 beds capacity and will be upgraded to a 60-bedded full-fledged multi-specialty hospital providing quality care at affordable prices. The hospital is equipped with various speciality departments and services supported by highly qualified and experienced doctors, technicians and trained nurses.

The GMC Hospital, Fujairah is supported by GMC Hospital, Ajman that now has approximately 250-bed capacity with more than 40 OPD clinics.
