Puttur, Feb 27: 'Let the people belonging to minority community strive for the growth of cooperative societies that have been set up exclusively for their progress, by making optimum use of facilities extended by both state and union governments,' said K S Mohammed Masood, district president of Dakshina Kannada Muslim Central Committee and former chairman of state Minority Commission.
He was speaking at the inaugural of Minority Community Multi-Purpose Co-Operative Society, here on Monday February 25.
He further said that the minority community which has been making strides in many fields should become self-reliant.
B Sankappa Rai, former ZP president, after releasing the fixed deposit certificates, urged all the community brethren to transact business with cooperative societies, in order to take part in the progress of the society.
Jeevan Bhandary, director of South Canara District Credit Cooperative (SCDCC) Bank, in his presidential address, said that the Bank has introduced several schemes for the revival of cooperative societies.
Fr Alexander Lewis, parish priest of St Joseph's Church, Kadaba handed over the pigmy collection kit.
Tammayya Ballal Renjalady felicitated Harish Pai, C P Simon, Sheikh Mohammed Fayaz, S K Hameed and M P Yousuf on the occasion.
Praveen Kumar, deputy controller of cooperative societies, Puttur division, Narayan Poojary, gram panchayat president, Dr Raghu, Roy Abraham, ex-APMC member, P P Vargheese, president of Noojibaltila gram panchayat, S Abdul Khader, president of Kadaba arecanut merchants' association, Chandrashekar Gowda Kodibail, president of Kadaba CA Bank, Chandrashekar Alekkady, manager of SCDCC Bank, Kadaba branch, were the chief guests present at the occasion.
Sayyid Meer Saheb, president of minority cooperative society delivered the keynote address and welcomed the gathering. K M Stephen compered the programme while Fazal, secretary of cooperative society proposed the vote of thanks.
