Bengaluru, Feb 27: A woman, who was angered by the fact that her husband, who has been suffering from AIDS, was forcing her to have sex with him, kicked him in the private parts, which caused his death on the spot. The incident happened on Saturday February 25 night at Marutinagara in the city.

The victim was a 45-year-old man whose identity has been kept under wraps. His wife, Sharmila (name changed), who is aged around 35, stands arrested by police personnel of Byatarayanapura station here.

The couple hail from Kodagu district. They had moved to the city a few years ago, and had acquired their own house sometime later. The couple have a daughter who studied in eighth standard. The victim used to work as driver for a distillery company located on Mysore Road here.

Police briefing about murder

When Ramesh fell sick a few years back, the doctors who conducted tests on him had diagnosed him to be suffering from AIDS. The couple continued to live together thereafter but the wife had kept distance from her husband since she came to know about his condition. It is said that the husband approached and pestered her often to engage in sexual activities with him, but she steadfastly refused to yield.

“In her statement, Sharmila said that as the victim pestered her to have sex with him. She asked him to wear condom but he refused. She claimed that as he allegedly forced himself upon her, she kicked him and she did not intend to kill him. We are investigating further into the case,” a police official said.

Meanwhile, victim’s elder sister, in her complaint to the police, has alleged that Sharmila had extra marital affair with a man and suspected that the duo might have murdered the victim. Based on her complaint, the police have also picked up a man for questioning.

Sharmila also has mentioned in her statement that her husband accused of her extra-marital affair while demanding sex from her.

The couple many a times fought on this issue. Elders from both the families had held discussions about six months back, and advised them to live amicably with mutual understanding. Still, differences persisted on this contentious issue, it is gathered.
