Mangalore: Theft worth Rs 3.25 Lac in Theresa Pinto's House

Mangalore, Feb 27: Thieves who broke open into a house in a posh city apartment have decamped with cash and jewellry worth Rs 3.25 lac at Light House Hill on Tuesday February 27.

Thieves broke open into the house of one Theresa Pinto, located in Lobo Prabhu Court, on St Aloysius College Road and decamped with gold jewellry.

Theft had occurred when Theresa Pinto had gone to visit one of her relatives admitted in a hospital on Tuesday February 26 morning.  The theft came to light only when she returned home in the afternoon.  Thieves were able to escape with jewelry within a short time, though the apartment block had the security men.

Theresa Pinto and family had gone to Mumbai, to attend a wedding ceremony of their relative and had returned home only on Sunday February 24. They had brought their gold jewellry from the bank locker for the wedding in Mumbai and Theresa was supposed to deposit back in bank locker on Monday February 25. She postponed depositing the jewellry due to hectic activities.

Police have initiated enquiry into the theft case.
