Mangalore, Feb 28: City's Sangeeta Bharati foundation will organize a mega musical concert to encourage young talented Hindustani vocalists and bring them under one competitive shelter. The foundation will also award the best performers in different streams of Hindustani music.
Renowned Hindustani vocalists Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Pandit Shivakumar Sharma, Pandit Jasraj, Ustad Shahid Pervaz, Ustad Rashid Khan, Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhat, Ustad Sultan Khan,
Ustad Amzad Ali Khan, Ustad Zakir Hussain and others will enthrall the musical lovers of the region in the second half of the year, stated a press release.
The programmes are scheduled to be held on August 10, September 21, and November 30.
On November 8 and 9 Bhirav Kalyan Utsav will be held. On the first day for the age group of 16 to 30 competitions will be held in Hindustani Gayana, Vadya Sangeetha and Thala Vadya .
Winner of the Hindustani Gayana competition will be honoured with the title 'Gana Jyothi,' winner of Vadya Sangeetha 'Swara Jyothi' and Thalavadya winner 'Laya Jyothi' along with cash prizes of Rs 10000. Runners-up and third place winners will get cash prizes of Rs 5000 and Rs 3000 respectively.
On November 9 renowned artistes will captivate music lovers and the winners of the different competitions will also exhibit their talents.
Young talents of Hindustani music of the region are advised to make use of the mega event. The event is open to all musical lovers, stated the press release.
