Panaji: Congress party in Goa has castigated union defence minister Manohar Parrikar for the alleged leak of question paper as a part of Army recruitment process.
“Such kind of incident is expected when the defence minister is often seen sleeping in public functions. The leak of examination paper for Army recruitment is a serious issue,” Goa Congress Legislature Party spokesman Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco told reporters yesterday in presence of State Leader of Opposition Pratapsinh Rane.
“The leakage of the paper for the exam which was also held in Goa is a matter of concern. Prime Minister should wake up the defence minister or the defence minister should on his own should wake up from the sleep,” he said.
The army on Sunday countermanded examinations in six centres in western India for some lower-level posts following an alleged leak of question papers.
The examination centres where the tests were cancelled include Kamptee, Nagpur, Ahmednagar, Ahmedabad, Goa and Kirkee, army sources said.
The examination papers of Army Recruitment Board were allegedly leaked following which Thane police’s Crime Branch conducted raids and arrested 18 persons from Maharashtra and Goa.
The examinations were held for a number of posts, including soldier clerk and strongman and soldier tradesman, in 52 centres across the country.
