Mangaluru, Mar 9: The city crime branch (CCB) police on Thursday March 9 arrested two persons for attempting to murder a person in the limits of Kankanady police station.
The arrested are Shivaram Rai (45) and Sushan Rai alias Papu (29), both residents of Jeppinamogaru.
On March 7, at around 6 pm, a person identified as Naufal Ibrahim had been attacked at Kadabaregadde in Jeppinamogaru, allegedly by Shivaram an Sushan, over a trivial issue. The accused allegedly stabbed Naufal with knives and hit him with a wicket. A case in this regard was registered in Kankanady police station.
The CCB police who took up the investigation arrested the accused near Pumpwell on March 9.
They have been handed over to Kankanady police for further investigation.
Police sources said that Naufal and the two accused were friends earlier. Differences over ganja peddling had led to enmity between them.
Among the accused, Shivaram Rai had faced charges in seven cases including murder, attempt to murder and so on about 20 years ago. Even a rowdy sheet had been opened against him in Mangaluru east police station.
The arrest operation on Thursday was led by CCB inspector Sunil Y Naik.
