Mangalore, Mar 5: The New Mangalore Port saw one more passenger cruise vessel anchor on its docks with the arrival of 'Deutschland' carrying 365 passengers from Germany on Tuesday March 4.
With the arrival of the cruise ship the number of passenger vessels at the port has increased to 14 during the current financial year, said NMPT chairman Tamilvanan. He also said that passengers from US, Austria, Germany, Europe, France, Switzerland and the Netherlands took a look around the city and visited tourist spots such as St Aloysius Chapel, Kudroli Gokarnanatha Temple, Monolitihic statue of Lord Bahubali at Karkala and 1000-pillar temple at Moodbidri.
The ship moved from the port in the evening after the passengers finished their tour and shopping in the city. The ship will go to Kochi and next to Goa.
NMPT chairman Tamilvanan said that the cruise traffic has been increasing in the last one year. Another vessel is expected to arrive on March 10, he said.
