Panaji, Mar 6: Union civil aviation minister Prafull Patel on Thursday March 6 assured state tourism minister Fransisco Alias Mickky Pacheco that much-demanded Goa-Dubai flight operations of Air India will be resumed at the earliest.

Pacheco, who is on his Delhi visit, had briefed the union minister on various representations made by the Goan community to resume the flight.

"Several representations have been made to me by the Goan community based in Dubai who have been depending on the weekly flight from Dubai to Goa run by Air India on every Wednesday of the week," Pacheco said.

The closure of this route has put not only the Goan community but also a lot of tourists to a great hardship.

The minister said that during an interactive session held by the tourism department's delegation led by Goa tourism development corporation chairman Shyam Satardekar, the issue was deliberated.

"Various stake holders in the tourism industry, Dubai press and others, emphasized the resumption of the flight which will ensure direct connectivity between Goa and Dubai," the minister said.

The minister during his meeting with Patel also requested that the frequency of the flight be increased to bi-weekly so that tourism also could get major boost in the state.

The discontinuation of the Goa Sharjah flight will affect the Goan community in UAE , I think we Goans are neglected by Air India which is concentrating mainly on Kerala Sector,I Hope either Emirates or Etihad starts a direct flight to Goa we should all put a request to these airlines even may be Jet Airways who will start flying to Abu Dhabi this month. If Emirates or Etihad starts a service NRI~S FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD WILL BENEFIT

Dear All Dubai Goans, the Tourism Minister had informed that the Goa-Dubai flight operations of Air India will be resumed at the earliest. Giving all the above assurance it is surprising that the Indian Airlines operating Goa Sharjah has be stopped without any intimation to the passengers who had bought the ticket Goa-Sharjah.

May I request to all the Dubai Goans to write a letter to the Tourism Minister to put more effort to start any other airlines to operate a Direct Flight GOa to Dubai/Sharjah.

We would be very pleased if we have flights operating directly to Goa-Dubai/Sharjah/Abu Dhabi. What is the use of we Goans having an international airport, and we face the brunt of reaching our home place via Mumbai, which is a total loss of time. Why can't we have a relaxing journey? If Air India or Indian Airlines is unable to operate why can't we have some other Airlines flying directly to Goa?

We need a direct flight from Goa-Dubai, Dubai-Goa resumed very soon. If they dont have enough passengers it can fly via Mangalore or Bangalore once or twice weekly. If Air India are shortage of Planes and Crew they must offer this route to some other Airline. Thanks

Emirates Airline is in the pipe line of having its proposal for a direct flight to Goa. It's time for Air India to ponder on this issue

I think talking about airindia express is waste of time because do you  think it is low budget flights while comparing to Air Arabia, Al Jazeera, Cathy Pacefic ...etc or please allow other private company flights
