Dubai, Mar 7: He raced through the airport with the officers giving chase, when he allegedly grabbed the Ukrainian woman who was sat waiting for her flight to be called. As he pulled her towards him he is alleged to have put a piece of broken glass to her throat, threatening to kill her if the policemen came any closer to him.

“He said that he would kill me and asked them to stay far away,” the woman, 24, said in the court records. As a tense standoff ensued the police attempted to negotiate with him.  They seemed to be making no progress, when the suspect looked away, giving one of the officers the opportunity to jump in and disarm him.

"I was worried I would be injured when the policeman managed to solve the problem,” she added. The officer said: “He resisted me but we were eventually able to control him.”  All the action was captured on the airport’s CCTV system. The suspect denies charges of threatening behaviour and assault. The trial has been adjourned until later this month.
