Bengaluru, Mar 26: The state Congress has complained to the central election commission, charging state president of BJP, B S Yeddyurappa, of influencing voters by evoking their religious sentiments. The leaders said in their complaint that Yeddyurappa, during the electioneering for Gundlupet assembly constituency bypoll, has indulged in corrupt practices.

Congress leaders, V S Ugrappa and H M Revanna have, in their complaint, accused Yeddyurappa of clearly violating model code of conduct. They pointed out that Yeddyurappa was wrong in urging the people to take religious vow in God's name, committing to caste their votes for the BJP candidate. They stated that during the campaign held at Bheemana Beedu village on March 23, Yeddyurappa had used unacceptable tactics to woo the voters. They claimed that Yeddyurappa had promised in the above meeting to adopt Gundlupet constituency if he become state chief minister.

The Congress leaders insist that Yeddyurappa should be acted against for trying to unduly influence the voters through tactics that clearly violate law.
