Mangaluru, Mar 31: Celebrating its centenary year of encouraging architecture in India, the Mangalore-Manipal Centre of the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) is all set to organise an evening with acclaimed architect and former chairman of the Indian Institute of Architects, Karnataka chapter, Prof Krishna Rao Jaisim at Mangalore Club here on Friday March 31 at 7 pm.
The theme for the evening will be 'In Celebrating Architecture'. Prof Jaisim, who is also the founder of Jaisim - Fountainhead, which has undertaken and executed scores of projects in the country, will also be part of a book event and sign copies of his book 'I Do, Architectural Musings'. The book is an affirmation of ideas, thoughts, beliefs and more that have formed the basis of Prof Jaisim’s design philosophy and his own way of life.
Jaisim, who has bagged awards and held different positions, is veteran of four decades in the field of architecture. Inspired by greats such as Buckminister Fuller, Koenigsberger and Geoffrey Bawa, he started Jaisim Fountainhead in 1970. He has created and recreated innumerable homes, institutions and commercial enterprises, written over 150 papers and articles and made about 1500 presentations.
The event will be followed by fellowship dinner.
