Host Indonesia seeks 20,000 volunteers for 2018 Asian Games

Jakarta, Apr 1 (IANS): Host Indonesia is looking for about 20,000 volunteers for the 18th Asian Games next year, the organising committee said here on Friday.

The number of volunteers for each sport is being calculated by the committee, said Harry Warga Negara, the committee secretary, reports Xinhua news agency.

"The enthusiasm of the people, particularly university students, to be volunteers for the Asian Games is high," he said.

Over 11,000 athletes and officials from 45 countries and regions would participate in the Asian Games from August 18 to September 2, he said.

The 18th Asian Games will be held in two of Indonesia's bigger cities, including the country' s capital of Jakarta and Palembang city, the provincial capital of South Sumatra.
