Man has gone to Moon and Mars and even beyond...BUT knows very little of the Earth below and It's Deepest Depths . Earth Quakes and several calamities strike at unforetold places and do not distinguish between Good, Bad or Ugly .

After all even Birth is an accident by which event we human beings have to spend wee bit of time on Earth..., BUT
death is certain and indeed will happen at the exact destined time and CANNOT be postponed !

    ...YET
Men have been infighting and creating boundaries and barriers to block human beings , so much so that nature herself seems in a rebellious mood !

Kindly don't bring religion into this.

I would have agreed on a certain extent if you say Humans are responsible (meaning due to explosion underground, failure of under mines etc which contributes to 5-10% overall). If you're saying it's due to our sins, then The Creator can easily take our lives and not by destroying things around since The Creator is Gracious and Merciful.

Earthquakes are usually caused when rock underground suddenly breaks along a fault. This sudden release of energy causes the seismic waves that make the ground shake. When two blocks of rock or two plates are rubbing against each other, they stick a little. They don't just slide smoothly; the rocks catch on each other. The rocks are still pushing against each other, but not moving. After a while, the rocks break because of all the pressure that's built up. When the rocks break, the earthquake occurs. During the earthquake and afterward, the plates or blocks of rock start moving, and they continue to move until they get stuck again. The spot underground where the rock breaks is called the focus of the earthquake. The place right above the focus (on top of the ground) is called the epicenter of the earthquake.

Karnataka lies in Seismic Zone II & III. Mangalore on Zone III.
Seismic Zones are calculated after analysing deeply thorough research on faulty tectonic plates and not on how grave the sin commited by people in that area. It already says we are in that Zone. So according to you people in NorthEast commit more sins since those states fall under Seismic Zone 5 and People in Rajasthan are very pure since it falls under Seismic Zone 1.

Moral of the story: Earthquakes happens due to tectonics plates and not due to Sins.
