Mangalore, Mar 14: The early risers including joggers in the city were welcomed by untimely showers on Friday March 14, which no doubt brought relief to the city which was perspiring under scorching heat for the past few days.

People hurrying to their offices and colleges faced traffic snarls all along the Bangalore – Mangalore NH 48, Mumbai – Mangalore National Highway 17 and access roads to the city. A series of accidents were reported owing to slippery roads, worsened due to the ongoing four-lane conversion and flyover construction works on NH 48 and NH 17.

No doubt, the surprise showers at the beginning of summer reduced soaring temperatures. Pedestrians were caught off guard and many of them had no choice but to rush for shelter.

A series of accidents occurred on NH 17 at Kodikal when the city bus skidded and traffic on either side was hindered for a while, till highway patrol policemen cleared the traffic.
