Mangalore, Mar 14: A construction labourer died after an under-renovation house collapsed at Kotimura near Kulshekar here on Friday March 14 morning.
Suresh Vithal was crushed to death as the roof of under-renovation house caved in owing to lack of safety measures being taken at the construction site.
Suresh was working on renovation of house belonged to one Ratnapanna. He was carrying out centering work when the roof collapsed on him. A major tragedy was averted since majority of the labourers were either yet to report or were working outside the building.
Suresh's body was removed out from the debris with the help of fire brigade personnel and other labourers.
Sources said that the tragedy occurred owing to the absence of safety measures before undertaking major repairs to a house.
Kankanady police have registered a case in this regard.
