Mangaluru, Apr 10: World Homoeopathy Day 2017 was observed at Father Muller Homeopathic Medical College, Deralakatte on April 10 at 9.00 am commemorating the 262nd birth anniversary of its founder Dr Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann. The inauguration programme began by invoking God's blessings through a prayer song by Aleena Roy and team at 11.00 am. Dr Shivaprasad K, principal, FMHMC welcomed the gathering.
The chief guest for the programme was Dr M R Ravi, KAS, chief executive officer, zilla panchayat, DK District and guest of honour was Dr M S Karthikaeyan Sethu, distinguished alumnus 1992 batch, managing director, S S Hans Hospital, Madurai. The programme was presided over by Fr Richard Coelho, director in-charge, FMCI.
A formal traditional lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries on the dais was held.
The chief guest delivered an inspiring message to the students on values and character and to be good human beings.
Dr Danielraj, medical head, Dr Batras (south zone) announced and distributed the prizes to the top achievers Aysha Rauf – Rs 45,000, Keerthana K – Rs 15,000 and Yenduri Anusha - Rs 10,000.
The in-charge director Fr Richard Coelho delivered the presidential address and wished all students a happy World Homoeopathy Day. He motivated them to be good citizens and carry out selfless service in healing humanity of their ills.
Dr Rita Chakraborty, professor and HOD, department of repertory, convenor, proposed the vote of thanks and expressed her happiness and gratitude. The programme was compeered competently by Dr Yashaswini and Dr Shruti, postgraduates.
After the inaugural programme, the guest of honor addressed the gathering and shared his experience and knowledge.
Competitions such as essay writing, extempore, drug picture presentation and quiz were conducted and prizes were distributed to the winners and runners.
The programme ended with a delicious lunch for all the students and faculty.
