UAE, Apr 10 (Emirates 247): The official holiday marking Israa and Miraj will be on Saturday, April 22, for all workers in private sector enterprises, institutions and companies in the country where Friday is the only weekly day off, while Sunday April 23rd will be the official holiday marking the Islamic occasion for those who have Fridays and Saturdays as their weekly days off, according to a ministerial circular.
A circular has been issued by Saqr bin Ghubash Saeed Ghubash, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation to this effect, stating that the decision is in implementation of the provisions of Article 74 of Federal Law No. 08 of 1980 on regulating labour relations and its amendments, whereby the private sector holiday has been moved to align with the private-public sector holiday.
The Minister extended his greetings to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses the Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates.
He also congratulated the people of the UAE and Arab and Islamic nations on the occasion.
April 23 declared as Israa and Miraj holiday for Ministries and Federal Authorities
The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources has announced that Sunday, 23rd of April, is an official holiday for Ministries and other Federal Authorities to mark the 'Israa and Miraj' holiday, with work resuming on Monday, 24th of April.
A circular issued by the authority stated that the decision is in implementation of the provisions of Paragraph 5 of Article 100 of Cabinet Resolution No.13 of 2012 and regulations of the Decree of Federal Law No.11 of 2008 on human resources in the Federal Government, and its amendments, which defines the public holidays of Ministries and Federal Authorities in the country.
On the occasion, the authority congratulated President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and the Rulers of the Emirates.
