M'lore: Audio CDs of 'Koti-Chennaya' Kannada Serial Released

Mangalore, Mar 18: Audio CDs of historical Kannada serial 'Koti-Chennaya' which would be telecast in Chandana channel shortly, were released at Town Hall here on Monday, March 17.

Ganesh Hosabettu, mayor of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) inaugurated the programme. Speaking on the occasion, he said that Koti and Chennaya are the icons of Tulu Nadu who fought for truth and justice in the legendary times. They also bravely fought against the atrocities of upper caste people. Therefore, they should serve as role models for the entire nation, he opined.

Dayanand B Bontra, president of Gujarat Billava Association, released the audio CDs of 'Koti Chennaya' serial. Meanwhile, entrepreneur U Bhojaraj unveiled the portrait of Koti-Chennaya. 

Ashok Suvarna, producer of the serial, in his introductory remarks, said that all the Tulu songs of old movie 'Koti-Chennaya' have been translated into Kannada with original tunes. Two songs penned by eminent Kannada scholar Dr Amrutha Someshwar have also been included in the CD, he informed.

Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva's Education Foundation, presided over the function.

Sitaram Kulal, president of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, music director Rajesh, scholar Dr Amrutha Someshwar and serial director Prakash Padubidri were present on the occasion.

Anuradha Rajesh invoked the blessings. M S Kotian welcomed the gathering.
