Saudi Arabia: Sleeping Child Sparks Citywide Search

Arab News

Madinah, Mar 18:  When a Saudi father received a call from his 5-year-old son’s elementary school notifying him of his son’s absence, he quickly called the local police and reported the boy missing, the Okaz newspaper reported yesterday. School officials and the boy’s father confirmed that the school bus had picked up the young boy from his house.

However, he never reached the school. With school officials, local law enforcement and the young boy’s father frantically working to figure out what had happened, the child mysteriously turned up at a local police station in another part of the city. Oblivious to the panic he had caused, the young boy narrated what happened: He fell asleep in the school bus and did not get off when it stopped at his school.

The bus driver parked the car near the school and left. But when the young boy woke up hours later, he didn’t recognize the neighborhood and began to wander the streets. Luckily for him, a good Samaritan noticed him wandering about and took him to a nearby police station where he was eventually reunited with his father.
