Mangalore, Mar 21: In the sensational rape attempt on a German national last year, at last the victim gets justice. The incident took place on August 5, 2007 at a private hotel at Belma village under Konaje police limits where the victim, a student who come to the city on a study exchange programme and therefore residing there.
Justice V C Hatti, the principal district sessions judge, Dakshina Kannada here on Thursday, March 20 sentenced two persons in connection with attempting to rape the said German national, to four years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 each.
The accused are Mohammad Ashraf alias Ashraf and Abdul Jaleel alias Jaleel who were charged with illegal trespassing (section 448 IPC), simple assault (section 323 IPC), attempting to outrage the modesty of a woman (section 354 IPC) and attempt to rape (section 376 read with 511 IPC).
