Mangalore, Mar 21: An ATM-cum-e-ticketing kiosk was inaugurated by the deputy commissioner M Maheshwar Rao at the city railway station here on Thursday, March 20. This is an innovative service introduced by the city Canara Bank.
The various advantages of this novel venture by Can bank is that now passengers can reserve a total of 6 seats in one go through this kiosk by using their ATM-cum-debit card.
Moreover, an individual is now entitled to purchase 10 tickets in a month through this facility. This venture has come about following an agreement inked between Can bank and the Indian Railways.
As a natural corollary to the agreement similar kiosks will be setup in a total of 225 railway stations across the country.
Already Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation have been providing e-tickets via Internet, and Can Bank too has made use of this opportunity.
In another part of the city at Balmatta, HPCL senior regional manager R Srinivasan inaugurated the bank’s other ATM located at the HPCL petrol bunk premises.
After the inaugural function Canara Bank city circle deputy general manager M M Kudva informed that the present one was the 42nd ATM under the City Circle and the 1,918th of the bank as a whole.
Also present on the occasion were Collector’s Gate branch senior manager K R Yadapadithaya, divisional manager K S Nayak, chief manager S G Desai, B M Nayak, B V Pai, K V C Shenoy and other distinguished guests.
