Mangaluru, May 4: An 18-month-old child living in a multi-storied residential complex at Jeppu in the city accidentally fell down from the seventh floor and instantly got killed. The incident occurred on Wednesday May 3.

The ill-fated child belonged to a family living in Diamond City residential complex located at Marnamikatte, Jeppu.

The child in question was Muhammed Shaan, son of Imran Hussain, a native of Adyar Kannur near here. Imran works in a foreign country, and his wife, Shama, lived here with her child. Shama's father Abdul Aziz and mother also live with Shama in the said apartment complex.

At around 4 pm on Wednesday, Shaan had entered the balcony of the apartment and was standing on a chair looking outside, when he suddenly lost his balance and fell down. Shama and her parents were inside the apartment at that time and hence, they were unaware about the fate that had befallen the family. The child, which fell down to the first floor from the seventh, was admitted into a hospital immediately, but the doctors who examined the child declared him brought dead.

A case relating to this incident was filed in Pandeshwar police station in the city.
