Bengaluru, May 13: Rushing to the defence of State BJP President B S Yeddyurappa on the criticism by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the newly appointed party spokesman Dr Vaman Acharya said "abuse cannot be a substitute for facts."

In a statement, Dr Acharya said except abusing Yeddyurappa and being needlessly nasty and sarcastic, there is no substance and logic in the defence advanced by the Chief Minister.

"The Chief Minister’s tom-tomming his four-year performance was lack lustre. I would like to humbly tell the Chief Minister that abuse is no substitute for facts," he said.

Dr Acharya pointed out that the Congress government in Karnataka has miserably failed to deliver goods. The tall claims being made by the chief minister – first in his press conference and then in the full-page advertisement campaign – are hollow without any substance.

"The statistics provided by the Chief Minister to buttress his argument about the government’s performance being fine is nothing but jugglery of figures and deceptive," he said contended that "it is misleading."

The horrible situation being faced by the people in all fronts in both urban and rural centres is a proof of this government’s failure to mitigate the problems of the common man. It is not the BJP but the Congress which has been indulging in the campaign of blatant lies, he said.

The BJP spokesman said Yeddyurappa’s tour during which he has highlighted the failures of the Congress government has received tumultuous response throughout the state.

"Our President’s 47-day day tour of the entire state starting May 18 has already caused ripples in the ruling party. Instead of logically proving himself right with genuine statistics, abusing the party President means that the Chief Minister is rattled," he said.
