Udupi: Kannada Sahitya Parishat Sets New Trend by Clearing Deficit

Udupi, Mar 30: 74th All India Kannada Sahitya Sammelan has set a new trend in clearing all the expenditure related to convening the Sammelan few months ago here.  It was announced at the concluding ceremony of Sammelan welcome committee by Uppunda Chandrashekar Holla, secretary of city Kannada Sahitya Parishat, on Sunday March 30. 

Welcome committee has been overwhelmingly supported by its members and philanthropists from various social service, voluntary organization and well wishers, by clearing a total expenditure of Rs 17 lacs within 3 – 4 months of convening the 74th Kannada Sahitya Sammelan in the city, which used to take years to clear in the past thereby set a new trend for future Sammelan under it's jurisdiction.

Dr V S Acharya, former minister, in his president address, announced that Rs 1 crore each has been allotted by the state coalition government as assured in the past, for setting up 'Koti-Chennayya' theme park in Karkala and Govind Pai Kannada Study Centre in the city. 



Dr Acharya also released the CD of 1880 pictures of 74th Kannada Sahitya Sammelan, at the same occasion..

District unit of Kannada Sahitya Parishat announced that the large volumes of books on 74th Kannada Sahitya Sammelan will be available on all books shops all over the state at half the rates, to popularize Kannada in its soil.

Treasurer Surendra Nayak, Irody Sahanasheel Pai and others were present on the dais.

Damodar Ithal, former president of Working Journalists' Association Karkala contributed along with hundreds of donors towards clearing the deficit.
