Doha: Kapikad's Tulu Comedy Play Wows Audience

Doha, Apr 6: THE much-awaited Tulu comedy play Dever Nadapaaver wowed the audience when it was staged at Doha Cinema as part of the 4th anniversary celebrations of Tulu Koota Qatar.

Artistes who played various roles included Devdas Kapikad as ambassador Narayan, Bhojraj Vamanjoor as Saloon Ganesh, Ramesh Master as Krishnappa, Mahesh as Mahalinga, Timappa Kulal as Vinay Kumar, Sathish B as Vasanna, Shobharaj as Prakash, Richard Pinto as Kamal Kumar, Sai Krishna as Sanjeeva, Karunakar as Vittal, Sujatha as Mandira and Chaitra as Reshma.

Peals of laughter reverberated through the hall at the delivery of virtually every dialogue. Devdas Kapikad, who is well known for his manic and unique brand of humour, was particularly hard-hitting.

The stage setting, lighting and sound was arranged by Jeevan, and background music was set by Guruprasad.
The evening started with a welcome dance by Jeevika Shetty, Ankitha Arun and Aishwarya Shetty, and choreographed by Milan Arun.

The annual day was opened by Indian Ambassador George Joseph by lighting a lamp. Indian Cultural Centre president Hassan Chougle, Tulu Koota Kuwait president Sathischandra Shetty, Air India manager Mehjabeen Mukhtiar, and many others were present on the dais.

Tulu Koota Qatar president Divakar Poojary welcomed the gathering.

All students hailing from Tulu Nadu who had excelled in academics and sports were honoured. Tulu Koota members were also felicitated for their contributions in various fields and those who worked to stage this show.
Joseph released Nirel 2008, a magazine which was published under the editorship of Prakash Ajila, to mark the anniversary.

The event was compered by Milan Arun and Raj Shekar. Cultural secretary Abdulla Mono proposed a vote of thanks.
Koota officials later announced that part of the funds collected in this event would be donated to Indian Community Benevolent Fund.

    The attraction of Tulu Drama being held at Qatar was evidenced from the fact one person located at Bahrain drove all the way to Doha in car to attend the event. The late comers for the event had tough time to find vantage locations at 1100 Seat capacity of Doha Cinema Auditorium.
