Bantwal, Jun 1: The prohibitory orders in Bantwal taluk following the stabbing of a youth and subsequent clashes in Kalladka have been extended to June 9.

On the orders of Mangaluu subdivisional magistrate and ACP A C Renuka Prasad, Sec 144 which had earlier been clamped in Bantwal taluk till June 2 will now go on till midnight of June 9.

Trouble erupted in Kalladka after Mohammed Hashir, a local, was stabbed by a group of three when he and two others were returning home from the mosque after Friday prayers on May 26. The accused have been identified as Mithun, Amit and Yathin. Kalladka witnessed a forced bandh the next day and incidents of stone pelting, after which the police imposed Sec 144 across the taluk.

With the prohibitory orders in place, people will not be allowed to gather in groups of 5 or more in public places, carry weapons/stones, or hold rallies or public programmes.
