Bus with 50 School Kids Falls into Narmada Canal - 44 Dead

Vadodara, Apr 16:  A bus carrying at least 50 school children fell into the Narmada canal in Bodeli, nearly 50 km from here, this morning.

The Gujarat Transport Corporation bus was ferrying the school kids on a study tour. The driver lost control when it was moving on a bridge over the canal, as a result of which the bus dashed into the parapet wall of the bridge and plunged into the canal.

According to the latest reports, 13 bodies, including that of the driver, were been recovered so far.

Few students, who swam to safe, informed the nearby villagers about the accident.

Rescue operations with twenty divers have already begun, official sources said.
